Slice House SLC: Authentic Artisan Pizza at Foothill Village

Slice House SLC: Four Styles, One Roof, and a 13-Time World Champ’s Obsession with the Perfect Slice.

BRUCE BIGFORD

Salt Lake City upped its pizza game with the arrival of Slice House by Tony Gemignani in Foothill Village.

Opening its doors on December 14, 2024, this isn't just another pizzeria—it's the brainchild of a 13-time World Pizza Champion.

Located at 1332 Foothill Drive, Slice House brings a diverse menu that showcases four distinct regional pizza styles under one roof. From the classic New York slice to the hearty Detroit square, there's something to satisfy every pizza aficionado.

From San Francisco to Salt Lake City

The journey of Slice House began in 2010 in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood.  Faced with long wait times at his full-service restaurant, Tony Gemignani introduced a slice window to cater to on-the-go customers.

This concept quickly gained popularity, leading to the expansion of Slice House.  Recognizing the shift towards fast-casual dining, especially post-2020, Tony saw an opportunity to bring his award-winning pizzas to a broader audience.

Salt Lake City, with its vibrant food scene, became a prime location for this expansion.

The Four Pillars of Pizza

What sets Slice House apart is its commitment to authenticity and variety. Patrons can choose from four meticulously crafted pizza styles:

  • New York Style: Thin, foldable slices with a perfect balance of sauce and cheese.

  • Detroit Style: Thick, rectangular slices with a crispy cheese edge, known as the 'frico'.

  • Sicilian: A thicker, airy crust that's all about the dough's texture and flavor.

  • Grandma Style: Thin-crust, square-cut slices reminiscent of traditional home-baked pies.

The Art of the Dough

At the heart of every great pizza is its dough.

Slice House employs a 48-hour fermentation process, allowing the yeast to develop complex flavors and a light, airy texture.

This meticulous approach ensures that each bite is both flavorful and easy to digest.

Signature Creations

Beyond the traditional offerings, Slice House introduces unique combinations that reflect Tony's culinary creativity:

  • The Wiseguy:  A robust mix of sliced Italian sausage, pepperoni, and roasted red peppers.

  • The Purple PotatoAn unconventional yet delightful blend of thin-sliced purple potatoes, bacon, and pesto.  Additionally, the menu boasts high-end toppings like Prosciutto di Parma and Calabrese sausage, elevating the fast-casual dining experience.

Foothill Village's Culinary Renaissance

The choice of Foothill Village for Slice House's Utah debut is strategic.

The area has been undergoing significant renovations, aiming to modernize and enhance the shopping center's appeal.

With the addition of establishments like Flower Child and the forthcoming Shake Shack, Foothill Village is rapidly becoming a culinary hotspot. Slice House's presence adds to this momentum, offering residents and visitors a taste of world class pizza in a convenient setting.

Convenience Meets Quality

One of the standout features of Slice House is its ability to deliver high-quality, chef-driven pizza in a fast-casual environment.  Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or enjoying a relaxed dinner, the experience is designed to be both efficient and satisfying.

With options for dine-in, takeout, online ordering, and delivery, Slice House caters to the diverse needs of the Salt Lake City community.
